Matthew 16:18-19

I've always believed that God is 'the best of us' and that you are 'the best of me'. I've always felt special that you were willing to take on my last name and make it 'ours'. I neither considered, it as a sign of possession of possession, ownership, weakness or losing your identity nor felt I was 'entitled' to it. I did not ask or demand it.
It was simply 'a very wonderful gift'. Thank you.
Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of it was, being just one of many invaluable lessons you have taught me then and now about harmonizing the spirit of God's intent and expectations with actually living by the spirit.
Those who understand Ephesians 5:21-33 will know exactly what I mean.
I think of Romans 16:16, 'the churches of Christ salute you' or Acts 11:26, where followers of Christ
were called Christians. The church being the bride of Christ, should it really be surprising that His bride took on His name. Considering this whole passage is about marriage, the groom and the bride, wouldn't it be fair to say that Christ set the tone concerning a 'name'. No hyphenation here.
Neither is it coincidence that individuals became known as Christians and as regards to a name, Christians only.
Not Catholic-Christian, Lutheran-Christian, Anglican-Christian, Protestant-Christian, Pentecostal-Christian or What-everism.
You say, well how could it be as
Catholicism, Lutheranism, Anglicanism, Protestantism, Pentecostalism or What-everism was not in existence when Christianity was? Thank you.
Exactly my point and please do think about just that.
An expression of unity with one another and God and within our union to God.
