the churches of Christ Salute You Romans 16:16
Be very careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. Ephesians 5:15-17
Now introduce a little solid food into your diet on a regular basis. ‘But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil’. Hebrews 5:14
HOME AT LAST
If I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. 1 Timothy 3:15
Getting It Right
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
John 14:6
What Should We Be Focussing On As We Go Through Life?
AT YOUR SERVICE
NO MATTER HOW YOU SLICE IT
JESUS CLEARLY IS THE BREAD OF LIFE
JOHN 6:35-40
IF YOU TAKE LIFE ONE BREATH AT A TIME
YOU WILL NEVER TAKE IT FOR GRANTED
Yes, you might very well ask, are we getting what right?
None other than the commandment that follows from Deuteronomy 4:2.
‘You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you’.
Whether old or new testament, the admonition is the same.
Do not fold, spindle or mutilate or your transfer to heaven is null and void.
Romans 1:16 says the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation.
If you pervert the Gospel or try to switch it out for another– which doesn’t exist– you take the Gospel which is the power of God unto salvation, and make it ‘no Gospel at all. Thus, you no longer have the ‘power of God unto salvation’.
Not a good position to be in. Even if the apostles and an angel from heaven...
DIRECTIONS
SCRIPTORIALS
Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. 1 Timothy 4:15-16
GOOD NEWS!
FOCUS
THE WORLD ABOUT US!
As you look at what is going on daily, yearly and century after century, does it really look like the world has the answers to ever increasing problems? Hardly. Surely, it’s obvious the needed answers are not of this world. And, the true answers are not likely to be accepted anytime soon by the world.
AS THE BODY WITHOUT THE SPIRIT IS DEAD
SO FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD
James 2:26
When the devil tempted Jesus to turn a stone into bread, the Saviour gave an answer we would do well to live by. Call it a corner stone to life and living. What’s that old saying, ‘You are what you eat’? More than food for thought!
the Waythe Truth the Life
Simple truth is we are born, we live and we die. It is sometimes amazing what an individual can accomplish within a lifetime even though we are but a shadow that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
James 4:14
“So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom’.
Psalms 90:12
Welcome...to the only church that Jesus built!
Matthew 16:18-19
Ecclesiastes 12:13 says it best when it comes to conclusions. No beating around the bush and frankly comes from a man who was as much a failure in life as he was a success. One things for certain. Solomon sure ‘did it all’ going through it. Often enough he was going down a one way street the wrong way. With the number of wives and concubines he had there was no shortage of advice or directions I’m sure.
YOUR PLACE TOO!
Sometimes We Think Too Little And Sometimes We Think Too Much. Most Times We Just Need 'To Do'.
‘For as he thinks in his heart, so he is….’ Proverbs 23:7
Here's The 'Too Much' Part
Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written 1 Corinthians 4:6
Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else Galatians 6:2-4
Let us Fix our Eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our Faith Heb 12:2; Ephesians 4:4-6 ‘One Faith and Once Delivered' Jude 3
Sometimes everything and anything needs a little ‘fixing’. Anybody who wears glasses knows this all too well. That said, let us ‘fix our eyes’ on Jesus. Still though, always keep in mind that while having sight is great, having vision can be greater. I remember hearing a blind man preach the Gospel way back when. No exaggeration, he had better ‘vision’ than most I know who can see.
Go and Learn! Life is a Learning Curve That Goes On and On and On…. I Think You Know What I Mean
Life in terms of time is linear and in fact it is a line that should always curve upward overall and never flatten out until ‘the end’. Then, we will ‘know’ that everything we had hoped for through faith, has been right on the $. When Jesus heard that, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance." Matthew 9:12-13
Learning From Something Old or Somebody Older Doesn’t ‘Lesson’ its Value (Pun Intended)
"But now ask the beasts and they will teach you; And the birds of the air and they will tell you; Or speak to the earth and it will teach you; And the fish of the sea will explain to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this in whose hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind? Does not the ear test words and the mouth taste its food? Wisdom is with aged men, and with length of days, understanding. Job 12:7-12
Leftovers
Latest Halloween stats are in. Americans spent about 7.4 billion dollars on Halloween in 2015 up from $6.9 billion. On this side of the fence the average Canadian spent $52 on Halloween costumes, $43 on decorations, and $42 on candy on the way to spending a record ‘more than one billion dollars’. And still scary, Statistics Canada estimates Canadians spent over $23 million on pumpkins alone, most ’not eaten’ and throwaways. In Canadian dollars $1 billion is the equivalent of sponsoring 2,032,520 children in third world countries with basic education, food, clean water, shelter and medical care for one year. On the U.S. side we’re talking 20 million children. That’s a lot of children left unsponsored in a world where most of the world is ‘third world’. Any wonder a lot of the world thinks the West is ‘depraved’ for how life saving resources are wasted while starving children waste away.
